Sibelius : Copy Music with Alternating Meters into a New Location of your Score

Q: I am working on a piece with a lot of meter changes. I don’t know how I can repeat or make copies of those changes. There is a 4 bar pattern with meter changes as 4/4, 3/4, 4/4, (4/4). e.g. the 2nd bar of the pattern is always 3/4. However, when I copy and paste the 4 bars, the meter change isn’t copied. And, when I insert 3/4 and 4/4, the rebarring creates unwanted rests and destroys the pattern! How can I solve this problem?

A: On Mac, if you hold down the Command key when you make a selection, (use the Command key to select one bar, then hold down the Shift key to extend your selection) the selection area will be Purple, not Blue:

This purple selection denotes a ’system’ selection, rather than a ’staff’ selection, so it will apply to all staves of the score.

With this selection made, you can copy this to the clipboard and then paste these bars anywhere else, and the paste will include ‘system’ elements such as meter changes, key signature changes, tempo and rehearsal marks etc., as well as ‘staff’ elements, such as your music and text and articulations which apply only to those specific staves.
Furthermore, if you have a couple of bars that are repeated sequentially one right after the other, with this type of selection made, you can type the “r” key to repeat the passage immediately (including meter changes).
That’s all there is to it.

There is no proper feature for silencing playback for one voice only in Sibelius. To hear just one voice of two voices; You can use the voice filter to temporarily select just voice 1 or 2. Now change that voice’s notehead to #9 silent. Change back to voice 0 (normal) when done.
